My Review:

Everyone has heard/read/seen the story of Cinderella, which I can say with somewhat conviction that this book is lightly based on.  I chose to read this book for a light read, but was rewarded with so much more.

I was immediately drawn to the characters, rooting for the good guys and despising the bad guys.  The descriptions were elaborate enough to color a picture in my mind and see the story unfold visually. I enjoyed the setting and the similar parallels to the classic fairytale, however, this book brought so much more.  I was kept on the edge of my seat as the story started to wind down, and now that it's over, I cannot wait to feast my eyes on the next book to see where Marissa Meyer will take me next.

My Review:

First off, I love all JP books, so I may be a little biased.

I loved this the first time I read it. Thought the twists and turns would never stop. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The the female lead was a strong woman who fights for what she wants, or feels is the right thing to do.

However, this time I saw her more as a whiny and insecure woman who, if didn't give into her wild perceptions, would have saved herself, and a lot of others a world of hurt. Then I started thinking, if she hadn't let her imagination run away with her, there would be no story. I also found myself asking myself throughout the whole book "would I have done that? or done it that way?" Which I guess is a good sign that it at least got me thinking, right?

Overall, I still enjoyed this book, mainly as a guilty pleasure. I can honestly say that although that many significant events happening to one person seems highly implausible, it's still fun and exciting if you just let yourself get swept up in the rush.
